Description

TAFE SA's courses for school students are designed for students in Year 11 to Year 12. They provide the opportunity to learn specific industry skills and gain credit towards a nationally recognised qualification, all while students undertake their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).

This qualification reflects the roles of individuals who perform mainly routine tasks and procedures, using limited practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge, and taking some responsibility for the quality of the work outcomes. The Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation is a pathway qualification and will prepare an individual to successfully undertake a sector specified Certificate III from the Resources and Infrastructure Industry.

Course Admission Requirements

You must be a school student undertaking SACE or equivalent, and meet the Flexible Industry Program eligibility criteria.

Course Delivery

  • Delivered one day per week over 36 weeks,
  • Block delivery available at some sites,
  • Dates, times, course units and training plans may vary for each delivery location,
  • Training is a combination of classroom, online and simulated work environments,
  • Elective units may vary at different locations, all electives must meet the training package rules and any prerequisite requirements,
  • Additional homework is required to manage the online components to complete the qualification,
  • At times, some courses may be combined with adults and/or apprentice classes.

Additional Information

Students must have the following Personal Protective Equipment (that students must organise themselves, approx $150-$200) including: steel cap boots, hi-vis vest, long trousers.

    Certificate II in Resources Infrastructure Work Preparation (RII20120)
    You will learn how to work safely and gain skills in reading and interpreting plans, carrying out measurements, locating underground services and operating tools and equipment. Duty of care and high risk tickets can also be gained. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 4 core units and 5 elective units.

    Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
