From a young age, I have always been very creative and enjoyed playing with hair. I used to do my families and friends hair for fun, so I wanted to learn more and gain a qualification
I loved the short course, so I studied the VET course at school learning to wash and blow dry hair and apply all over colours. This put me at a huge advantage when finding my apprenticeship and made me feel comfortable in a salon environment.
Hair and Beauty
TAFE SA has hair and beauty salons that are open to the public. Our students and apprentices practice their skills under supervision in our well-equipped salons, providing hair, nail, tanning, waxing, facial and massage services at very reasonable prices. At TAFE SA students can get a taste of the hair and beauty industry while they are studying Year 10, 11 or 12 through the vocational education and training (VET) for schools program.
The Hair and Beauty VET for Schools program helps students:
VET study also counts towards the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and is the perfect pathway into further Hair and Beauty study at TAFE SA, or it can prepare students for employment or gaining an apprenticeship or traineeship.
TAFE SA’s new Hair and Beauty mobile training salon is delivering hair, beauty and makeup training throughout metropolitan and regional South Australia.The Hair and Beauty mobile salon can come to you offering flexible and demand-driven training options that meet the needs of students, schools and employers.
TAFE SA is proud to be part of the Sustainable Salons initiative and we have pledged to recycle 95 per cent of all our salon waste. As an organisation which is developing the hairdressers of tomorrow, it is important to us that we educate them not only on how to be great hairdressers, but also on how to be environmentally responsible ones.
TAFE SA partner with O&M for the supply of hair colour, haircare and styling products for their student training and training salons. O&M are an Australian owned company who’s products are created with natural Australian native ingredients, are cruelty free PETA certified and are gentle on sensitive skin.
