Every two years, more than 500 Regional Competitions are held in 34 regions across Australia. They test the skills and knowledge of 4000+ apprentices, trainees and students, who have the chance to win gold, silver and bronze medals and go on to compete at a national level.

The WorldSkills Australia National Championships is Australia’s largest vocational education and skills excellence competition. The competition running over three days at Skills Show Australia with over 700 top regional competitors from across the country, will come together to showcase their talents and benchmark their skills against industry peers on the national stage. The competition will take place from 3-6 June 2027 at the Adelaide Showgrounds, concluding with a medal ceremony in Adelaide.

As the 2026 regional competitions unfold across the country, they spotlight the next generation of skilled professionals, building momentum toward the 2027 National Championships in Adelaide, South Australia. Along the way, the aim is to strengthen international collaboration, invest in leadership, and celebrate skills excellence on a national and global stage.
In 2027, TAFE SA will be a WorldSkills Partner for the National Championships in Adelaide providing over 80% of the competition materials and equipment required to put on the enormous event.
Adelaide has officially been announced as the host for the 2027 WorldSkills Australia National Championships and Skills Show.
