What's it all about?
Discover the joy of relief printmaking in this hands-on six week course. You'll learn to design your own prints, carve with confidence, and experiment with both hand-printing and press techniques to bring your creations to life.
The course includes:
- Initial introduction to relief printing and the printmaking studio
- Introduction and use of a range of tools, equipment and materials for printmaking
- Creating a small test linocut
- Working through the stages of designing, carving and printing a resolved linocut
- Introduction and trialling of woodcut printmaking and experimental printing techniques
Who's it for?
This course is perfect for beginners with no prior experience, while those familiar with printmaking or relief printing will discover new techniques and fresh creative approaches from the expert artist leading the class.
About the Instructor:
Kerri Wright is an Adelaide-based printmaker and tattoo artist, known for her style that puts a contemporary twist on traditional relief printing techniques such as woodcut and engraving.
What you need to know
Most materials will be included, however participants may want to bring their own inks, paper or textiles to print with (to be discussed in class).
What to bring: sketch or notebook, pen and pencil
Dress code: closed footwear (no sandals or high heels). Hair tied back. Clothes suitable for printing and an apron.
