About Short Courses
TAFE SA short courses are offered across a range of program areas and provide you with the opportunity to obtain knowledge and training to take on further study or enter the workforce, upskill and gain professional development to boost your professional portfolio, or explore a new hobby for your own general interest.
Short courses run for varying durations. Some courses can be completed within a day, while some will run weekly over the course of one or more months.
Short courses may be accredited or non-accredited. Accredited short courses are linked to a nationally recognised unit of competency and you will receive a Statement of Attainment upon completion of a short course that includes an accredited unit. Non-accredited short courses provide you with practical skills and knowledge for your personal or professional life. Completion of some non-accredited short courses will provide you with a Certificate of Attendance, or similar.
Short courses will not result in a qualification.

Enrolling into a Short Course
Short course enrolment requires upfront payment in full for the course. Your enrolment into the course cannot be confirmed until payment has been received. Some short courses will require an application prior to payment and enrolment to ensure that you meet the listed pre-requisites.
You can enrol into a short course by visiting the short course webpage, selecting the relevant date, time and location, and then adding the course to your cart. You may add multiple short courses to your cart before checking out.
You may enrol yourself and/or others into the short course(s).
If you are enrolling yourself into a short course you will be asked to provide your personal details in the checkout process. If you are enrolling others into a short course you will be asked to provide their full name, email address and phone number. The other students will receive an email asking that they provide their personal details at a later stage, prior to the course commencement.
Payment in the online checkout process must be made using Visa or MasterCard. If the course has pre-requisites you may not be required to make payment in the online checkout process as the program area may need to complete eligibility checks first. In these cases, the program area will contact you once you have submitted your details.
If you cannot pay with a Visa or MasterCard please contact the short course program area for further details. The program area can be contacted via the Enquire button and/or phone number listed on the course webpage.
Fees will vary, depending on the duration and materials needed for the short course. Concession prices are available for some courses.
Enrolment into a short course is not confirmed until payment has been made in full. In some cases, there will be extra costs associated with a course, such as consumables.
Please refer to the relevant short course webpage for more details on the course fees.
Concession is available for some short courses. Check the details on the relevant course page to find out if concession is available. You will be required to provide current and valid concession details upon enrolment.
International students (on a subclass 500 student visa) may undertake the following types of short courses:
- Non-accredited short courses – where the short course is not linked to a nationally recognised Unit of Competency (UOC) international students may enrol into the course with no additional requirements. A Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) is not required.
- Accredited short courses – where the short course is linked to one or more nationally recognised UOCs, the short course must meet additional eligibility criteria. If all criteria is met, international students must be issued a COE and the short course must be completed within the duration of the student’s principal course COE.

If the course is cancelled by TAFE SA you will receive a full refund.
The short course program area will contact you usually one week prior to the scheduled commencement date to confirm whether the course is proceeding. If your course requires you to purchase additional equipment or supplies we recommend that you wait until you receive your confirmation email before purchasing.
