About Short Courses
A short course is any single unit of study offered by TAFE SA that can be taken without the need to enrol in an award course.
One particular subject or area of knowledge is usually the focus of a short course.
Short courses run for varying durations. Some are completed within a day and some run weekly over multiple semesters.
Fees will vary, depending on the duration and materials needed in the course. Concession prices are available for some courses. Please refer to the relevant course page for details.
Applying and Enrolling
Application and enrolment for short courses involves submitting an application form and paying the relevant fees.
How to Apply
You can apply or enrol for a short course by following the prompts on the relevant short course page.
- ‘Apply Now’ means that the program will collect details from you via the electronic form and then contact you regarding the enrolment process
- ‘Enrol Now’ means you will submit details and payment via the electronic form – this will secure your place immediately
Cancellation of Courses
If a course is cancelled due to low enrolments or unforeseen circumstances, the program area will notify you and you will receive a full refund or transfer to another class. Please do not purchase equipment without confirmation that your class will go ahead.
If you choose to withdraw from a class you will not be entitled to a refund of your fees. TAFE SA cannot accept responsibility for changes to your work commitments or personal circumstances.
If you would like to transfer to another class, you must give at least five clear working days notice before the course commences. Only one transfer is permitted and only within the same year. An administration fee of $20 will be charged on each individual transfer.
You will need to pay your fees on enrolment. In some cases, there will be extra costs associated with a course, such as consumables.
Concession is available for some classes if you have a:
- Pensioner Concession Card
- Health Care Card
- Veterans Affairs Card.
Check the individual course details to find out if concession is available. Concession card type, number and expiry date must be provided on enrolment. Concession status also applies to dependants of people in the above categories. Seniors Card holders are not eligible for concession.
Classes will not be held on a public holiday. If a public holiday falls during your course, it will be extended by one session or by arrangement with the lecturer.
