About Short Courses

TAFE SA short courses are offered across a range of program areas and provide you with the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and hands-on experience for personal or professional development, industry skills or compliance, or for your own general interest.

Short courses run for varying durations. Some courses can be completed within one or two days, while others will run part time over the course of 1 or more months.

Short courses may be accredited or non-accredited. Accredited short courses are linked to a nationally recognised unit of competency and you will receive a Statement of Attainment upon successful completion of the course. Non-accredited short courses provide you with practical skills and knowledge for your personal or professional life. Completion of some non-accredited short courses may provide you with a Certificate of Attendance, or similar.

Short courses will not result in a qualification.

Enrolling into a Short Course

Short course enrolment requires full payment upfront, prior to the commencement of the course.

You can enrol into a short course by visiting the short course webpage, selecting the relevant date, time and location, and then adding the course to your cart. You may add multiple courses to your cart before checking out. Payment via the TAFE SA website must be made using Visa or MasterCard.

You may enrol yourself and/or others into the short course(s). If you are enrolling yourself into a short course you will be asked to provide your personal details in the checkout process. If you are enrolling others into a short course you will be asked to provide their name, email address and phone number, and they will then receive an email asking that they complete their remaining personal, prior to the course commencement.

Some short courses may have pre-requisites that must be satisfied before payment can be processed and enrolment can be confirmed.

Fees and Concessions

Fees will vary, depending on the duration and materials required for the short course.

Enrolment into a short course is not confirmed until payment has been made in full. In some cases, there will be extra costs associated with a course, such as consumables. Please refer to the relevant short course webpage for more details on the course fees.

Concession is available for some short courses.  Check the details on the relevant course page to find out if concession is available. You will be required to provide current and valid concession details upon enrolment.

Discount codes may be available for some TAFE SA short courses. Discount codes may offer a monetary or percentage value discount off of the total value of the short course delivery. Discount codes are only available to TAFE SA short courses that take payment via the TAFE SA website. The discount code must be entered into the relevant field during the online checkout process on the TAFE SA website.

International Students and other Temporary Residents

International students (on a subclass 500 student visa) may be eligible to undertake some short courses. If the short course is eligible for international students on a Visa 500 the delivery details on the TAFE SA website will state: “students holding Visa 500 are eligible”.

International students on a Visa 500 enrolling into an eligible, accredited short course will require a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE). The COE will be provided by TAFE SA prior to the short course commencement.

If you are a temporary resident on a visa subclass other than 500 you must check with Immigration before enrolling into a short course to ensure that you are complying with the conditions of your entry visa. TAFE SA cannot accept responsibility for failure to comply with visa conditions.

Cancellation of Courses

All short courses are subject to minimum numbers.

TAFE SA will contact you 3-5 business days before the scheduled start date to confirm if the course is going ahead. If your course requires you to purchase additional equipment or supplies we recommend that you wait until you receive your confirmation email before purchasing.

If the course is cancelled by TAFE SA due to low enrolment numbers or unforeseen circumstances you will receive a full refund.

Refund Policy

A full refund will be provided if:

  • the short course is cancelled by TAFE SA, or
  • the refund is requested prior to the commencement of the short course delivery.

All requests for refunds must be submitted in writing prior to the commencement of the short course delivery. A refund will not be granted if the request is received after the short course delivery has commenced.

Where a refund is to be provided, the refund will be processed back to the student in the same manner with which the short course fee was paid, e.g. if the short course fee was paid via credit card the refund will be credited back to the credit card with which payment was made.
