SHORT COURSE

Pattern Making for Beginners

Description

What’s it all about?
If you’re a budding garment-maker, this is the perfect introduction to the basic principles of pattern making for fashion garments. While this course focuses on skirts, the skills you’ll gain can be applied to a whole wardrobe’s worth of creations from dresses to pants and everything in between!
You’ll also get hands-on experience with the tools of the trade:
• Pattern paper for your custom alterations
• Practice fabrics like calico to test out your designs
• Access to professional-grade industrial sewing machines and overlockers
Whether you're dreaming of your first handmade piece or ready to level up your fashion game, this course will set you on the path to designing and sewing with confidence.

Who’s it for?
Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your sewing to the next level, this course is made for you! A little experience with a domestic sewing machine and some hand stitching will help, but all levels are welcome — we’ll guide you every step of the way.

Outcomes of course?
By the end of the course, you'll be able to:
• Confidently use drafting tools to create garment patterns
• Draft a basic sample-size skirt as your pattern-making foundation
• Take accurate measurements for custom-fit designs

• Sew and fit a toile to perfect shape and fit

You'll leave with the skills to turn your fashion ideas into real, wearable pieces tailored just for you!
