Description

In this nationally recognised Certificate IV in Library and Information Services qualification, you will gain the knowledge and skills required to work in libraries and be familiar with the technologies and processes utilised within that industry.

Through a mix of theory and practical coursework you will learn to search library databases, use cataloguing tools and develop the skills to interact with a wide range of library customers.

Your studies could lead to employment in the public, university, special (law, health) or school library sectors ; or more broadly, into roles that support art galleries, museums and other information management areas.
Your lecturers are library professionals with strong connections to South Australian libraries and remain up-to-date with industry best practice.

Attendance Requirements (subject to change)

  • This course is either a blend of virtual online classes or face to face classes.
  • You are encouraged to attend all scheduled classes at locations and times outlined in your information session.
  • Class times and days vary each Semester and will be advised prior to your first attendance.
  • We recommend undertaking two units of competency each term (equating to approximately 5-10 hours of study per week).

Additional Uniforms, Equipment and Costs
You will need access to a computer and the internet.

Vocational Placements
You will be offered a vocational placement of 70 hours to gain experience in the Library and Information Services sector

Mandatory Requirements
You will need a Working with Children check and a National Police check for your Vocational Placement.
