Entry Recommendations
This course is recommended for those with an interest and aptitude for working in the resource and infrastructure industry.

Attendance Requirements (subject to change)
This course is 10 weeks in duration and students will be required to attend multiple delivery locations due to specialist equipment and space requirements for some of the units. Training will be undertaken at Tonsley AND Mt Barker campus. Delivery locations may alter due to the number of students, and it is important that students attend all days of delivery to finish the course.

Industry Conditions and Skills
You will need practical hands-on aptitude, good communication and interpersonal skills, basic literacy and numeracy skills and a basic understanding of concepts including measurements, volumes, levels, ratios, pressure, temperatures and chemicals. Ability to complete written work in the form of job cards and workbook and computer skills for online activities and tasks.

Additional Uniforms, Equipment and Costs
You will need to purchase and wear your own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety boots, safety glasses and appropriate workwear (eg wide brim hat, gloves, long pants, long sleeve hi-vis shirt) (approx. $100 - $200)

    This course is suitable for those who wish to work in the resources and infrastructure field as Drillers Offsider, Mill Operator, Survey Assistant and Exploration Field Assistant.

    Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation (RII20120)
    You will learn how to work safely and gain skills in reading and interpreting plans, carrying out measurements, locating underground services and operating tools and equipment. Duty of care and high risk tickets can also be gained. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 4 core units and 5 elective units.

    Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
