Description

TAFE SA's courses for school students are designed for students in Year 11 to Year 12. They provide the opportunity to learn specific industry skills and gain credit towards a nationally recognised qualification, all while students undertake their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).

Learn a range of skills and knowledge across 2D and 3D design, 3D modelling, 2D animation and digital imaging. Study online by video conference 1 day per week with the convenience of having a lecturer at hand to guide you through a range of experiences in this exciting field. Use this course to explore your media specialisation for further study. Study from your home or school in your region.

Course Admission Requirements

You must be a school student undertaking SACE or equivalent, and meet the Flexible Industry Program eligibility criteria.

Course Delivery

  • Offered in Semester 1 (all locations),
  • Delivered one day per week over 31 weeks (including orientation),
  • Delivered online,
  • This course requires handling software and two hours homework per week (approx.)
  • Dates, times, course units and training plans may vary for each delivery location,
  • Schools are encouraged to consider acquiring the software listed in incidentals, along with individuals requiring a webcam, microphone, a computer with at least 8GB-16GB of RAM and stable internet access,
  • It is recommended that students do not have a full study band at school if they also wish to study this course,
  • At times, some courses may be combined with adults and/or apprentice classes,
  • Applications to study at a Technical College may require an alternative application process.

Additional Information

Students will participate in the program from their school. Students require access to Adobe Creative Cloud (free download from TAFE SA), Blender software (free download), computer with min 8GB-16GB RAM, webcam, and headset with microphone. Schools should consider acquiring the software listed as students will require access from their first class. Students should be able to access Adobe Creative Cloud once they have received their TAFE SA login. It is recommended that students download, install, and test all required software prior to their first day of study. Students are required to purchase an A4 or A5 visual diary/sketch pad, a note pad, pens and pencils, and a 16GB-32GB USB or Portable Hard-Drive.     Certificate III in Screen and Media (CUA31020)
    This Screen and Media foundation course prepares you for advanced study in design visual effects and post production. Learn skills in industry standard software; 3D Modelling (including MAYA), Photoshop and After Effects. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 3 core units and 8 elective units.

    Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
