Disconnect/Reconnect - Fitters/Motors

Description

This course combines UEERL0004 Disconnect - reconnect electrical equipment connected to low voltage (LV) installation wiring, with the pre-requisite unit UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace.

TAFE SA has worked closely with the Office of the Technical Regulatory (OTR) to develop this course which is available only to individuals considering a Pathway 1 option relating to a National Restricted Electrical Licence (NREL).

During this course you will gain the required skills and knowledge to assist you in obtaining a National Restricted Electrical Licence (NREL). You will learn
• how to identify supply arrangements
• follow isolation procedures
• select and use testing and measuring devices
• terminate and connect cables and commission equipment.

  • Due to the course content, specific delivery arrangements and TAFE SA’s commitment to safety, this course is only available to students who meet the following entry requirements and hold a Certificate III level trade qualification (completed via an Australian Apprenticeship pathway) via one of the three options below;

    • Certificate III in Air-conditioning and Refrigeration - to undertake activities such as disconnect and reconnect fixed wired air conditioning units
    • Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician - to undertake activities such as disconnect and reconnect fixed wired machinery
    • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade – to undertake activities such as disconnect and reconnect fixed wired machinery

    You will be asked to submit your trade qualification to verify that you meet the pre-entry requirements listed above.
  • Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace (UEECD0007)

  • On-campus coursework includes learning and assessment in a simulated environment, designed to provide you with real-life scenarios aimed at preparing you for the scope of work that this licence allows.

    When undertaking this course, you will be presented with an opportunity to undertake practical assessment requirements relevant to your vocational trade and experience in the following industry areas:
    • Air-conditioning and Refrigeration
    • Electrotechnology Electrician
    • Engineering – Mechanical Trade

Short Course Delivery Locations Some short courses can provide accreditation for industry-specific registration, while others merely provide skills and knowledge in the subject area. Concession prices are available for some courses.
