SHORT COURSE

Wiring Rules Refresher - AS/NZS3000:2018

Description

This course aims to upskill previously qualified and licenced Electricians whose Electrical License has expired (ie. more than 3 years) and will form part of meeting professional currency with Consumer and Business Services (CBS) to support licence renewal.

The course focuses on revision of the topics included within the Australian/New Zealand Wiring Rules AS/NZS3000:2018. Access to the Standards is provided upon enrolment into the courses through the TAFE SA online LEARN platform.

Students will be required to undertake and complete the theory component of the course via the TAFE SA online LEARN platform within a 10 week period. Once completed students will be required to attend the TAFE SA Regency or Noarlunga campus for a 1 day assessment to perform a range of practical tests on a pre-wired installation to determine if it is safe to be connected to the supply (SAPN network). TAFE SA facilities have pre-wired faults as part of the arrangement and students will be required to determine the fault that is present and make suggestions to correct them. The date for the practical assessment will be negotiated with the student.

Practical tasks include testing an installation, including: insulation testing, circuit breaker arrangements, earth testing, polarity testing, prospective fault current testing and calculation, fault loop impedance testing and requirements, and more.

To be eligible for this course participants must be able to provide evidence that they currently hold or have held in the past an Unrestricted Unsupervised Electrical Workers Registration (Electrical Licence). Students may need to contact CBS to seek this evidence if required.

Note: TAFE SA and CBS have determined that students will have a strict 10 week period from the date of registration to complete the online theory component of the course. Additional lecturer support is available if needed. After 10 weeks students access to the LEARN course will be removed. Students that have not completed will be required to re-register for the course and pay any associated fees in full again.

For organisations that wish to pay the student fees for this course and are unable to pay by credit card via the website, please contact the Short Course team via email at ShortCourses@tafesa.edu.au to organise a Third Party Payment invoice.
