Description

In this nationally recognised Diploma qualification, you will gain the knowledge and skills required to work in libraries. You will be able to take on a leadership role in leading your team, developing and promoting events and providing support to staff who manage collections.
Graduates of this course will be able to apply to the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) for professional organization (Library Technician) membership.

Your lecturers are library professionals with strong connections to South Australian libraries and remain up-to-date with industry best practice.

This course is accredited by ALIA (Australian Library and Information Association).

There is compulsory work placement of a minimum 70 must be undertaken as part of the course.

    You are encouraged to attend all scheduled classes at locations and times outlined in your information session.
  • Class times and days vary each Semester and will be advised prior to your first attendance.
  • We recommend undertaking two units of competency each term (equating to approximately 5-10 hours of study per week).

    This course teaches students how to provide quality customer service, support users in their use of multimedia technology and use cataloguing tools. Additionally, this course will increase student understanding of copyright requirements and workplace health and safety. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 4 core units and 12 elective units.

    Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
