Description

TAFE SA's courses for school students are designed for students in Year 11 to Year 12. They provide the opportunity to learn specific industry skills and gain credit towards a nationally recognised qualification, all while students undertake their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).

The Certificate III in Make-Up is the ideal qualification to start your career in the make-up or beauty industry. You will learn a range of skills that will open the doors to the creative world of photography make-up and make-up artistry for various occasions. You will also learn how to work with clients and advise them on make-up and beauty products and services.

Course Admission Requirements

You must be a school student undertaking SACE or equivalent, and meet the Flexible Industry Program eligibility criteria.

Course Delivery

  • Delivered one day per week over 36 weeks,
  • Dates, times, course units and training plans may vary for each delivery location,
  • The course is recommended for students to commence in Year 11,
  • Year 12 students are welcome to apply however will not complete the qualification by end of Year 12 which may impact SACE and ATAR,
  • At times, some courses may be combined with adults and/or apprentice classes,
  • Students who have successfully completed SHB20121 Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics in 2024 or 2025 could receive credit into up to 10 units of competence SHB30221 Certificate III in Make-up,
  • There will be approximately 3-5 hrs of self-paced study that will need to be done by the student independently.

Additional Information

Students are required to purchase a student equipment kit, approximately $300, provided by an external supplier (price subject to change). It is a requirement that a black shirt and black pants are worn as per workplace standards. An optional TAFE SA t-shirt is available for purchase (approximate cost $40).
