Description

TAFE SA's courses for school students are designed for students in Year 11 to Year 12. They provide the opportunity to learn specific industry skills and gain credit towards a nationally recognised qualification, all while students undertake their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).

Develop the skills and knowledge to work in the Aquaculture and Seafood industry. With a focus on hands-on, practical learning in a real Aquaculture facility, you will develop skills in feeding, handling and growing stock, disease management, harvesting, filleting and food hygiene, operating and maintaining aquaculture systems, as well as safe work practices, teamwork and effectively communicating in the seafood industry. The Certificate II in Aquaculture (SFI20119) has a strong focus on developing basic aquaculture knowledge and skills whilst providing additional training in elements of shipboard safety.

Course Admission Requirements

You must be a school student undertaking SACE or equivalent, and meet the Flexible Industry Program eligibility criteria.

Course Delivery

  • Delivered over 12 months with a blended methodology.
    Online facilitated delivery is combined with timetabled intensive blocks (4 blocks of 5 days) for skills acquisition and assessments,
  • Dates, times, course units and training plans may vary for each delivery location,
  • It is recommended that students do not have a full study band at school if they wish to also study this qualification at TAFE SA.

Additional Information

Desirable for students to purchase full Personal Protective Equipment (that students must organise themselves approx. $100-$150) including: enclosed shoes and gum boots.
