Responding to Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care (RAN-EC) Training

Responding to Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care (RAN-EC) training outlines your child protection role as a worker or volunteer with children and young people.

This training meets one of the requirements for teacher registration in South Australia (Teachers Registration and Standard Act 2001) and is a condition of employment in school and children’s services settings.

The aim of this training is to provide all people working in education and care environments an understanding of:
- The underlying factors of child abuse and neglect and their impact on children’s development and wellbeing.
- How, through the daily work with children and families, education and children’s services staff can help to prevent and lessen the impact of abuse and neglect.
- When and how to make notifications of suspected child abuse and/or neglect.

This training has been developed in collaboration between the Department for Education, Catholic Education SA and the Association of Independent Schools SA.
