What’s it all about?
Got a list of odd jobs piling up at home or work? This hands-on, practical 8-week course is designed to give you the skills and confidence to tackle everyday maintenance tasks whether you’re a homeowner, tenant, property manager, or simply keen to get handy. From fixing doors to tiling walls, you’ll learn how to use tools safely and effectively while completing real-world repair and maintenance jobs.
Who’s it for?
This course is perfect for anyone who wants to become more self-sufficient with basic property repairs. Whether you're new to tools, overseeing a property, or just want to stop relying on tradies for every small fix, this is your chance to build practical skills in a friendly, supportive environment. Basic hands-on skills are good to have but not necessary, just a willingness to learn and give it a go!
Outcomes of course?
Over 8 weeks, you’ll get hands-on training in:
-Safe use of hand and power tools
-Tool handling, use and sharpening
-Timber joints and general fixings
-Repairing doors, fitting locks, handles and latches
-Installing skirting boards and architraves
- Repairing plasterboard and solid plaster
-Tiling floors and walls
You'll also gain essential Work Health and Safety (WHS) knowledge and have the opportunity to chat with your lecturer about a small project you’d like to complete as part of the course.
What you’ll need:
Dress code: Australian standard safety boots, Australian standard safety glasses, sensible work clothes.
A Pen, pencil and a 5 or 8 metre tape measure to bring each week.
