WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT? This course will provide you with the practical vocational skills in areas including business tax calculations and day to day computerised bookkeeping using Xero. You will learn the following skills: Business tax calcualations - Business tax calculations and process lodgements and returns in accordance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements - Understanding the rules and calculating Pay as You Go (PAYG) withholding - Pay as you go (PAYG) instalments - Goods & Services Tax (GST) - Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) - Superannuation - Payroll Tax - Luxury Car Tax (LCT) - Wine Equalisation Tax (WET) - Fuel and Tax Credits (FTC) Day to Day computerised bookkeeping (Xero) - Set up and operate a computerised accounting system - Prepare, match and process receipts - Process payment documentation - Manage day to day accounts and process customer transactions - Entering sales and purchases through to reconciling the bank account and generating reports WHO'S IT FOR? This course is designed for small business owners, job seekers, students and graduates seeking part-time or entry level employment in the areas of accounting, bookkeeping, business and financial services in jobs such as accounts payable officer, accounts receivable officer, storekeeper, inventory manager, stock control officer, contracted bookkeeper or accounts supervisor. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW - Fully online and self-paced - 8 weeks in duration - If you study 10-12 hours per week, we estimate that you will be able to complete the course in this 8-week timeframe - You will require access to the internet - The course has either written or oral supervised assessments. You will require access to video chat for assessment purposes. OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE By the end of this course, learners will be able to: - Set up and maintain a XERO accounting system, including manage chart of accounts and GST codes. Process a range of cash and credit transactions, including credit note adjustments, payments and receipts in XERO. - Perform bank reconciliations using an imported bank statement - Generate the key financial reports including Profit and Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and Debtors/Creditors Ageing reports providing hands on experience with the key bookkeeping functions in a business. - Gain knowledge of the key tax reporting and lodgement obligations of a business to comply with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and relevant legislative requirements - Manually prepare and lodge a Business Activity Statement (BAS), calculating key taxes including GST, PAYG Withholding, PAYG Instalments, and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), and correctly completing all required BAS labels within lodgement deadlines - Perform manual PAYG Withholding calculations using ATO tax tables and understand Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting - Have a basic understanding of indirect taxes - Luxury car tax, Wine Equalisation tax and state taxes including - Payroll tax, Stamp Duty and Land tax PAYMENT INFORMATION For organisations that wish to pay the student fees for this course and are unable to pay by credit card via the website, please contact the Short Course team via email on shortcourses@tafesa.edu.au to organise a Third Party invoice.
