Wiring Rules (Single Phase Installation Testing)

This short course aims to upskill apprentices and qualified electricians on the recent changes to AS/NZS 3000: 2018 as part of their professional currency.

This course focuses on the practical requirements of installation testing as outlined in Section 8 of AS/NZS 3000: 2018.

Students are required to perform tests on a pre-wired installation to determine if it is safe to be connected to the supply (SAPN network). The TAFE SA facilities have pre-wired faults as part of the arrangement and students will be required to determine the faults that are present and make suggestions to correct them.

During the course students will look into the individual requirements of testing an installation, including: insulation testing, circuit breaker arrangements, earth testing, polarity testing, prospective fault current testing and calculation, fault loop impedance testing and requirements, and more.

For organisations that wish to pay the student fees for this course and are unable to pay by credit card via the website, please contact the Student Engagement & Onboarding team via email on to organise a Third Party Payment invoice.

  • Students must be current electrical apprentices or qualified electricians
