We’ve listened to you and that is why we have created this course specially for women. We received input from our female students that they would feel more comfortable doing an introductory course in carpentry with other women and so this course was launched.
In this course you will learn how to safely use basic hand tools and power tools to assist with general maintenance projects and as the course progresses you will have the opportunity to tailor the skills covered to your own individual interests.
Over the 8 weeks you will also gain woodwork skills to be able to make yourself a wooden stool which you can take home. This course provides a great social opportunity, all whilst learning and applying new skills with confidence.
The course fee includes $50 materials costs. You will not be required to bring any materials, everything will be provided, including protective eyewear.
Dress code: appropriate workwear and enclosed, flat shoes.
"An all women environment was a supportive and social gathering where I had the confidence to try something completely new without feeling embarrassed... the other women were the same as me, complete novices. I came away feeling comfortable enough to have a go at doing basic repairs myself. I get tools out at home that I would never have used before" -Lin
