The Diploma of Engineering – Technical qualification will enable you to work in engineering design, mechanical, civil, manufacturing para-professional or maintenance technician job roles. With a focus on transferring theoretical concepts into real world engineering applications you will learn about computer aided design (CAD), drafting and civil design, cost estimating, basic mechanical design, material sciences, quality assurance and develop basic engineering hand skills in our workshops.

Course Admission Requirements
(for International Applications)

  • Academic IELTS score of 5.5 Overall with minimum of 5.0 in all bands or equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of Year 12 with Year 12 Maths or overseas equivalent.
  • Students without Year 12 Maths will be required to complete Certificate III in Engineering - Technical as a prerequisite to this course.

Work Placement Duration:   140 hours

The course has work placement included as part of the course requirements. International students will undertake 4 weeks for 35 hours per week of work placement; 2 weeks in Semester 1 and remaining two weeks in Semester 2 . More details will be provided once studies have commenced.

Course Notes

  • The course will be taught in two campuses; 1 day at Tonsley campus and 2 days at Regency campus.
  • Students who don't have Year 12 or overseas equivalent will be required to complete the Certificate III in Engineering - Technical, prior to this Diploma course.

* International students will be required to purchase text books, steel cap boots and a high-visibility vest, sometimes known as hi-vis or hi-viz, that has highly reflective properties. They will also need to purchase long sleeved tops and long trousers. The approximate cost of these items is between $A200-$A500. Further details will be provided upon commencement.

    Possible job roles include CAD draftsperson, Maintenance/Service Technician, Civil/Mechanical/Mechatronics Technician, Engineering Technologist.     Adelaide has four distinct seasons, with moderate winters and warm to hot summers. In winter you will need woolly jumpers and jackets and in summer, shorts and t-shirts. The heat in South Australia is dry, rather than humid.
