  • Any Certificate III or higher
  • Satisfactory achievement in the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)
  • Successful completion of SACE (year 12) results (or equivalent) achieving an ATAR of 60 or above

This course also has an additional cost of $121.00 for two textbooks (Technical Drawing for Fashion by Basia Szkutnicka and the Swatch Book (2nd Edition) by Clive Hallet..

    • The Flinders University Bachelor of Creative Arts (Costume Design) is offered in partnership with TAFE SA and Flinders University. You will be required to undertake the TAFE SA Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising (MST50119) concurrently with the Flinders University Bachelor of Creative Arts (Costume Design).
    • Students will be registered with both TAFE SA and Flinders University. Separate fees apply for each institution. Please see Flinders Uni website for Bachelor fees. The Diploma of Applied Fashion Design & Merchandising MST50116 is offered as Full Fee Paying, delivered across 3 semesters, approximate total cost of $16,167.
    • You may be eligible for a VET Student Loan for the Diploma part of the course. VET Students Loans is an income-contingent loan scheme that assists eligible students to pay for all or part of their Vocational Education and Training (VET) tuition fees when studying one or more eligible VET courses.

    • Students will need to access industry specific machinery and major equipment while studying at TAFE SA Fashion Program.
    • Students are also required to provide their own equipment kit, consisting of basic sewing, patternmaking and design tools. An equipment kit list detailing the requirements and supplier information is provided to students by the TAFE SA Fashion Program.

    This qualification is intended for assistant design and product development roles in the fashion industry, as well as assistant roles associated with managing fashion product as part of a fashion enterprise. Skills include design and product development, as well as technical production skills to support management and fashion businesses. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 9 core units and 26 elective units.

    The Bachelor of Creative Arts (Costume Design) is a Flinders University degree offered in collaboration with TAFE SA*. The degree gives you the skills to design patterns and construct costumes as well as giving you knowledge of costumes from different periods of time. You will have the opportunity to apply your practical and research skills in a performance project for either stage or screen. *Students will enrol concurrently in the Flinders' Bachelor of Creative Arts (Costume Design) and the TAFE SA Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising (MST50116).
