Entry Recommendations
We recommend that applicants with no or limited knowledge or skills in community services study a Certificate III in Community Services before this course.

Attendance Requirements (subject to change)
This course is delivered through online study and two compulsory on-campus workshops a week. Workshops are usually from 9.30 to 4.00pm, and occasionally from 9.00 to 5.00pm. Workshop days differ between campuses. This course is available at Elizabeth, Noarlunga and Regency campuses in Term 1 and 3.

Industry Conditions and Skills
You are encouraged to consider your personal wellness and your capacity to interact with and be assessed on traumatic course content. You will need to have basic computer skills.

Additional Uniforms, Equipment and Costs
Working with Children check and a National Police check.

Vocational Placements
You will do a vocational placement of 140 hours in a local industry specific setting. You will need to have current vaccination and screening checks before starting your vocational placement.

Mandatory Requirements
You will need to have a current Working with Children Check. Some industry partners may also require a current National Police Check, COVID-19 and flu vaccinations that you may need to meet or show evidence of.

    Certificate IV in Youth Work (CHC40421)
    This qualification covers communication, working with diverse people, group activities, legal and ethical requirements, mental health, critical situations and workplace safety. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 15 core units and 2 elective units.

    Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
