Provide services and support for young people in the community

Youth workers help young people make positive changes in their lives and develop the skills to make positive decisions in the future. Specific services include accommodation, education, training and employment, and counselling.

With a qualification from a TAFE SA youth work course, you could work in outreach programs, run community programs for local governments, or provide a voice for youth on issues such as youth justice, health and employment.

Meet Joey from Employment Options

I chose to study the Certificate IV in Youth Work (CHC40413) because I was at a crossroad in my life and I felt like I wanted to be able to help young people with the challenges they faced in today’s society. With my love of the outdoors I felt I could offer young people an experience that they might not have had before which would help them to manage the difficult situations they were dealing with in their lives.

Through my study I have been able to gain the knowledge I needed to gain employment as a NDIS Mentor at Employment Options. Here I have been able to put into practice what I have learnt from my study and share my love of bicycles with my clients to help them achieve their best.
