Entry Recommendations
An interest in the events industry and strong planning skills are recommended. Skills in Office365 and computing are needed for this course. Completion of the Certificate III in Events is not compulsory but can be useful and you will gain credit towards this course. This course offers a study pathway to the Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management with one year of credit.

Attendance Requirements (subject to change)
This course is delivered through a blend of on-campus and online classes with most classes face to face. You will need to attend online and on-campus classes to successfully complete this course. All face to face classes are at Regency campus. Full time students will have on-campus classes 4 days a week from 9.00 to 3.30pm and can complete the course in 12 months. Part time students will have on-campus classes 2 days a week from 9.00 to 3.30pm and can complete this course in 24 months. You are required to volunteer for events and go to industry excursions which may be linked to assessments and unit completion.

Industry Conditions and Skills
This course will develop your skills in event management including staging, operations, finances and budgets, leadership, business relationships, and risk management. You will learn how to manage and enhance the customer service experience and be confident with conference technology.

  • Smart casual attire is acceptable and lecturers will advise of appropriate dress for industry visits.

Vocational Placements
There is no compulsory vocational placement. You will be required to volunteer for events to successfully complete some units of competency.

Work could be undertaken in an office environment where the planning of events takes place, on-site at venues where events are staged or a combination of both.     Events are diverse in nature and this qualification provides a pathway to work for event or exhibition organisations operating in a range of industries, including the tourism and travel, hospitality, sport, cultural, and community sectors. Skills covered include registrations, staging, operations, customer service, finances and budgets, leadership and managing people, business relationships, projects and workplace safety. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 11 core units and 9 elective units.

    Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
