Description

The construction industry is one of the strongest industries in the country and it is rapidly adopting modern design technologies. This course equips new entrants and current construction workers with the essential required skills, thus increasing their employability. It is offered online to provide the study flexibility for regional students.

The course is part of the Associate Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering (Design Drafting) (provisionally accredited by Engineers Australia). It was co-developed and is reviewed annually by an advisory group consisting of Industry and SA Universities.

Course Admission Requirements

any one of:

  • Certificate III or higher in an Engineering related area
  • Completion of a recognised foundation or bridging course
  • Completion of at least six months full-time equivalent in a relevant degree course at a higher education institution
  • SACE completion or equivalent with Year 12 Specialist Mathematics OR Mathematical Methods OR General Mathematics or equivalent
  • Satisfactory achievement in the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) with a minimum score of 140

Student Services Fee (SSF) applies. Full-time student $20. Part-time student $10.

    The course aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to competently and efficiently use modern design drafting software.
    Design drafting is one of the fundamental elements of a Building and Construction engineering processes, and these skills are very much sought after by the Civil and Structural Consulting industry.
    The course covers the main three drafting software packages currently used in the consulting and construction industry:

    • AutoCAD, Revit and Civil3D as well as the implementation of BIM (Building Information Modelling) knowledge to create collaborative engineering solutions.
      To complete this course you are required to complete all 4 subjects.
