Forge an exciting career in open cut mines and quarrying or stake your claim in mineral and petroleum exploration or oil and gas production. And get first class learning at our specialist Onshore Petroleum Centre of Excellence training facility at our Tonsley campus.
The Onshore Petroleum Centre of Excellence at the TAFE SA Tonsley campus is a fully immersive simulated oil and gas production environment for technical training. It allows training in oil and gas operations, including safety, sustainable operational principles and maintenance activities, without expensive fly-in, fly-out arrangements.
Using water in place of oil and compressed air to simulate gas, the facility includes different pump types, gas compressors, a pig launcher and receiver, gas metering skid, field separator and small tanks, as well as associated pressure safety valves, flow valves and other instrumentation.
TAFE SA's Roxby Downs campus services one of South Australia's most remote communities. The town's major employer, BHP Billiton, has a strong, long-standing relationship with TAFE SA. Apprentices who work at nearby Olympic Dam receive industry-leading training at TAFE SA. Watch the video to learn more about TAFE SA's Roxby Downs campus.
