Sexual harassment is any unwelcome behaviour of a sexual nature and can range from suggestive sexual comments or displays of erotic or sexually graphic material, to stalking or assault. It is not confined to a particular gender or sexuality.

TAFE SA provides student counselors available to assist students experiencing sexual harassment or assault.  Counselors provide a confidential and professional service and are available on most TAFE SA sites and by phone. They can help with:

  • information about the types of behaviour that constitute sexual harassment
  • the roles and responsibilities of lecturers
  • options and procedures for dealing with a complaint.

For further information and contact details please see Student Counselling.

Students are also able to make a complaint to the appropriate legislative body, such as the Equal Opportunity Commission or the police. Please note that assault and stalking are criminal offences and can be prosecuted by the police.
