As a veterinary nurse, you look after animals under treatment or in temporary residence at veterinary facilities. You hold animals for examination and treatment, clean and sterilise equipment, and prepare instruments for procedures. You assist veterinarians during operations by administering anaesthetics and oxygen, and you monitor animals as they recover. Your duties include giving medications, maintaining stock and records, and providing animal care advice. You may also deliver education programs, perform diagnostic laboratory tests, and carry out reception or clerical tasks such as accepting payments.
