Operate Elevating Work Platform (Scissor and Boom)

Description

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to operate an elevating work platform in industry. This course is appropriate for those working in operational roles.

The course covers:
- Plan and prepare for operating an elevating work platform
- Conduct work activities from an elevating work platform
- Carry out operator maintenance
- Clean up

Students must be able to speak, write and understand English and must be able to work at heights.

Students must provide original photographic identification (e.g. Australian Drivers Licence, Proof of Age card or Passport). The photo ID must contain photo, signature and date of birth.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories and industry sectors.

Dress code: Students must provide their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as long sleeve shirt and shoes with rubber grip soles.

CITB INFORMATION

This course is eligible for CITB funding. The CITB is a whole-of-industry led organisation that provides support to attract, train and retain South Australian building and construction workers by providing leadership in training and skills development.

Each financial year, Eligible Persons with an approved CITB number are provided with $3,000 of training fee subsidies through the Construction Skills Training Program.

Upon receipt of enrolment, students will be sent an email with further instructions on claiming the CITB rebate. You do not need to provide your CITB number at the time of enrolment.

At the successful completion of a CITB eligible course, eligible CITB students will be refunded with the CITB subsidy. The subsidy will be paid to whoever paid for the course. TAFE SA cannot claim your refund (and therefore cannot reimburse you the funded amount) prior to the finish date. All CITB refunds will be credited against the student or third party account and can not be refunded back to credit cards.

Rebate refunds will be processed within 60 days of course completion (this timeframe is to allow for assessment submission, marking and processing).

The CITB number you provide to TAFE SA must belong to the individual participant – you cannot use the CITB number of another person or company.

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills with ability to speak, write and understand English (ie no translators)
    Minimum age 18.

Short Course Delivery Locations Some short courses can provide accreditation for industry-specific registration, while others merely provide skills and knowledge in the subject area. Concession prices are available for some courses.
