Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves. No refunds apply unless the course is cancelled by TAFE SA. International students on a Student visa (subclass 500) are not eligible to undertake short courses.
Students will receive a Mental Health First Aid Certificate on completion.
Participants will receive credit for one unit of competency towards any one of the following qualifications:
Diploma of Community Services (CHC52015)
Diploma of Counselling (CHC51015)
Diploma of Financial Counselling (CHC51115)
Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (CHC43215)
IV Mental Health (CHC43315)
Mental Health First Aid
The standard Mental Health First Aid course teaches members of public how to deal with a range of mental health problems when they are developing and mental health crises.
Participants will learn signs and symptoms of these problems and where and how to get help and what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective.
The first aid is given until professional help is received or until the crises resolves.
