SSDIS01010 - Introduction to Civil Construction Skill Set


Gain the skills and knowledge required to work safely and competently across a range of work tasks that are carried out regularly within the civil construction industry.
Learn how to carry out manual excavation, spread and compact materials and use hand and power tools.

  • This course is fee free via a joint initiative of the Australian and South Australian Governments and you must meet criteria to be eligible for a fee free place.

    Completion of the Training Account Consent Form - you are required to upload a completed form at the time of enrolment. You can download a copy of the form under the Files & Resources tab below.
  • Carry out manual excavation (RIICCM205F)

    Plan and organise work (RIIBEF201E)

    Spread and compact materials manually (RIICCM207E)

    Use hand and power tools (RIISAM203E)

    Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures (RIIWHS201E)

    Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (CPCWHS1001)

Short Course Delivery Locations Some short courses can provide accreditation for industry-specific registration, while others merely provide skills and knowledge in the subject area. Concession prices are available for some courses.

This course is 5 weeks duration but delivered over a 7 week period between Tonsley campus (first 3 weeks), 2 week break and Mt Barker campus (final 2 weeks).

Please check the TAFE website for eligibility - If you are ineligible for this fee free course the subsidised price of $87.00 will apply. If you are ineligible for the subsidised fee the full fee cost of $2861.60 will apply. Secondary school students not eligible for fee free.
