Attention building trades, plumbers, electricians, painters, landscapers, gas fitters, security agents and many others! Want to get your contractor's licence? Enrol in this workshop plus ‘Plan Finances for New Business Ventures’ and gain the financial and legal components required by the Office of Consumer and Business Services for your Contractor's Licence.
This unit will provide you with a broad overview of legal and administrative requirements affecting the operation of a small business. Specific topics include ownership structures, taxation, business regulations, licences and registrations, contract law, consumer law, business premises, industrial law, risk management and insurance.
You can chose to study self-paced online or via face-to-face classes. Use of computers is required to complete this unit. To enable us to provide sufficient support to students with additional language, literacy and/or numeracy needs, we advise that these students utilise the 3 hour weekly class option from below. CITB INFORMATION
This course is eligible for CITB funding. The CITB is a whole-of-industry led organisation that provides support to attract, train and retain South Australian building and construction workers by providing leadership in training and skills development.
Each financial year, Eligible Persons with an approved CITB number are provided with $3,000 of training fee subsidies through the Construction Skills Training Program.

Upon receipt of enrolment, students will be sent an email with further instructions on claiming the CITB rebate. You do not need to provide your CITB number at the time of enrolment.
At the successful completion of a CITB eligible course, eligible CITB students will be refunded with the CITB subsidy. TAFE SA cannot claim your refund (and therefore cannot reimburse you the funded amount) prior to the finish date. All CITB refunds will be credited against the student account and not refunded back to credit cards.
Rebate refunds will be processed within 60 days of course completion (this timeframe is to allow for assessment submission, marking and processing).
The CITB number you provide to TAFE SA must belong to the individual participant – you cannot use the CITB number of another person or company.
