Learn to make silver jewellery with Meghan O’Rourke in this 3-day intensive course as a part of the Adelaide College of the Arts Summer School 2020.
The course introduces participants to the basic skills used to create silver jewellery, including saw piercing, filing, soldering, polishing, decorative finishes and basic design principles.
Learners will be guided through the design and creation of a neck pendant with pierced out design, as well as a finger ring with either a soldered band, stacked or wrapped design.
The course will include:
- Initial studio orientation
- An introduction to technical exercise (design transfer, saw piercing, filing, drilling and papering)
- Ring project (soldering technical exercises, polishing and alternative surface finishes)
- Pendant project (hammering and stamping techniques, surface texturing techniques and connections)
All sterling silver, brass, copper, tools and equipment will be provided.

What to Bring: Sketch/notebook, pen and pencil.
Dress Code: Neat, casual. Closed footwear (no sandals or high heels). Hair tied back.
