  • Any Certificate III or higher and
  • current competence in a vocational industry area which you will need to verify at counselling before enrolment

This course is recommended for those wanting to deliver and assess competency based training in a workplace context.

Attendance Requirements (subject to change)
This course can be studied either as blended delivery as live virtual classes, on-campus classes and self directed online study or online with facilitated online study and optional virtual classes.

Industry Conditions and Skills
You will need access to a workplace or simulated workplace environment to complete practical assessment tasks. Access to a computer and the internet is needed. This qualification is a requirement of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015, this means that to be a trainer in a Registered Training Organisation you will need this qualification. To obtain the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment 10 units must be completed (9 core units and 1 elective unit). The elective unit chosen must be relevant to the work outcome and meet local industry needs.

    This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. This qualification is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program. Achievement of this qualification by trainers is a requirement of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.

    Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

    This course covers planning assessment activities, assessing competence, designing and developing assessment tools, group-based learning, learning programs, training packages and accredited courses. To complete the qualification, you are required to complete all 6 core units and 6 elective units.

    Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
