    Employment Outcomes

    Successful completion of this course enables students to apply to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) for a Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency.     Qualifications & Skills Covered

    Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal) (MAR20313)
    This qualification includes skills in basic servicing and maintenance, inboard and outboard motors, main propulsion and auxiliary systems, basic survival skills, minimising fires, navigation, regulations, seamanship skills and workplace safety. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 12 core units.

    Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full Qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.


    The TAFE SA qualification is subsidised through the Government of South Australia's WorkReady initiative. To access subsidised training through WorkReady, your suitability to complete the qualification will be assessed. This may include participation in a Language, Literacy and Numeracy pre-assessment.
