Certificate II Program in Pathways to Nursing
This course builds essential academic and digital skills to support achievement in nursing education and professional practice.
Learners develop a strong foundation of knowledge and practical abilities in:
• Medical Terminology: Master key words, abbreviations, and phrases used in healthcare to understand and communicate medical information accurately.
• Provide First Aid: Gain practical skills to respond to injuries and emergencies until professional help arrives.
• Work Health and Safety: Apply safe work practices by identifying hazards and following workplace safety procedures.
• Cultural Diversity: Respect and work effectively with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Safety: Deliver care that is respectful, inclusive, and responsive to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and needs.
• Writing and Literacy: Develop clear documentation, accurate medical terminology, and effective healthcare communication.
• Numeracy: Perform dosage calculations, interpret charts, and measure clinical data accurately.
• Digital Skills: Use electronic health records, conduct online research, and communicate through digital platforms.
• Study Skills: Manage time, prepare for exams, and strengthen critical thinking abilities.
• Communication: Practice professional interaction, teamwork, and culturally aware communication.
Graduates will be confident and well-prepared to transition into the Diploma of Nursing and pursue a career in healthcare.
To complete the qualification, you are required to complete 1 core unit and all 13 elective units.
