Description

This course aims to develop women’s educational, vocational and personal skills. Students will gain an understanding in gender analysis and develop skills for the application of advocacy at work and/or in the community. Units covering social and cultural sensitivity and mediation are also included in this course. Students will improve their skills in the areas of research, essay writing, presenting and advanced computing enabling them to take advantage of the pathways into higher education and training or to enhance employment or promotion opportunities.

Entry Recommendations
We recommend this course if you are interested in women's advocacy and the status of women. Previous completion of units in study practice, communication, IT and advocacy from the Certificate II in Vocational Preparation for Women and/or the Certificate III in Women's Advocacy or similar is recommended.

Attendance Requirements (subject to change)
This course is delivered as a blend of face to face learning with some units online. The campus is Adelaide with some electives at Elizabeth campus. This course is face to face or online. Face to face takes place during school terms with weekday classes from 9:30 to 3.00pm. Full time study is at least 3 and a half days a week and part time is from half a day a week. 80% attendance in each unit in a term is needed to successfully complete this course.

Industry Conditions and Skills
You will need to be proficient in speaking, reading and writing English and be willing to participate in activities and discussions. You will also need good skills in word processing, PowerPoint, internet research, email and online learning. You will need good study habits, collaboration, teamwork and time management skills.

    • provide a pathway into higher education and training in TAFE, University, and/or to enhance employment or promotion opportunities,
    • develop skills for the application of advocacy at work and/or in the community,
    • provide a grounding in gender analysis
    • To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 3 core units and 7 elective units.
      Not all electives are offered each semester.

    Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
