TAFE SA lecturers among group of leading artists exhibiting ceramics

Aug 19, 2026

An exhibition of teapots is showcasing the talents of some of South Australia’s leading ceramists including four TAFE SA arts lecturers.

Different interpretations of a tea set by 23 artists feature in the exhibition - Need More Tea? - which is part of the SA Living Artists (SALA) Festival program.

TAFE SA visual arts lecturers and experienced ceramists Gus Clutterbuck, Phil Hart, Jo Crawford and Merrilyn Stock are among the stellar line-up and have produced new work to meet the tea set brief.

Gus, who describes his ‘Overgrown’ tea set as “sculptural and non-functional”, says the exhibition offers a diverse mix of styles for audiences to enjoy, while giving the ceramists a chance to try something different to their regular practice.

“It’s good for the ceramics community - we work so much in isolation, so the exhibition is a great way to bring everyone together,” he says.

“It’s fun, too, because it’s an opportunity to do something outside of the ordinary.”

Need More Tea? is at the Q Theatre, 5 Hallett St, Adelaide, and is open Wednesday to Sunday, 11am-4pm, until August 23.
