The TAFE SA Centre of Excellence in Early Childhood Education and Care has launched a new, non-accredited short course designed to help people explore pathways into the industry.

The short course, Kickstart Your Future: An Introduction to Careers in Early Childhood Education and Care, has been developed in response to growing workforce needs, with national strategies emphasising the urgency of attracting new entrants.

It has been designed to be used nationally by schools, TAFEs, RTOs, and community organisations to reach secondary students, career changers, people re-entering the workforce, migrants and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Delivered online, the free, interactive course takes around six hours to complete and provides learners with a practical introduction to the structure of the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) sector.

Featuring a 'day in the life' format, this self-paced course explores common terminology and the wide range of job roles available. The course also outlines training pathways, supporting learners to identify their next steps and explore opportunities with their local TAFE.

Since launching in August 2025, the course has already attracted over 200 enrolments highlighting the strong demand for accessible entry points into the sector.
