On The Run (OTR) Retail Traineeship Program

Are you interested in kick starting your retail career with an OTR Traineeship?

As an OTR Trainee, you’ll gain:

• A Certificate III in Retail [SIR30216]
• Paid on-the-job experience with OTR
• 55 Stage 1 SACE points
• Support by TAFE SA, OTR and MEGT every step of the way.

TAFE SA has partnered with OTR to deliver a retail traineeship program specifically for students in Year 10 or 11.  It allows students to:

• earn a wage
• train with an employer to learn specific industry skills
• gain credit towards a nationally recognised retail qualification while undertaking their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).

How does the traineeship work?

The School Based Traineeship program is designed to help school students to gain employment with OTR and participate in a 12-month school-based traineeship, graduating with a Certificate III in Retail.

The training combines both theoretical and practical components, allowing for on-the-job learning.

The theory portion of the training is conducted at school at a time that best suits the trainee and VET Coordinator’s availability.  The practical aspect of the training takes place in the OTR workplace during the trainee’s working hours.

OTR has partnered with MEGT, one of South Australia’s Apprenticeship Support Networks, to provide sign up and registration of trainees as well as ongoing support from pre commencement to completion.
