Inspired By… is the inaugural SALA exhibition by Inspired By Art and Volunteering, a collective of 25 volunteers from the Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA). United by a shared passion for both art and community engagement, the group brings together artists who spend their time welcoming visitors, leading guided tours and supporting the Gallery through volunteer service.

The exhibition explores the many sources of inspiration that shape artistic practice. Responding to the theme Inspired By…, each artist has created work reflecting their own unique influences, whether inspired by artists and art movements, cherished people, favourite places, animals, ideas or personal experiences. The result is a diverse and engaging collection that celebrates creativity in all its forms.

Featuring a wide range of artistic disciplines, the exhibition includes painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, textile art, felting, videography and mixed-media works. Together, these pieces showcase the breadth of talent within the AGSA volunteer community, from emerging artists developing their practice to those with many years of creative experience.

Throughout the exhibition, participating artists will be present to share insights into their work, discuss their creative processes and techniques, and highlight the important connection between art, inspiration and volunteering. Visitors are invited to engage directly with the artists and discover the stories behind the works on display.

Inspired By… is a celebration of artistic expression, lifelong learning and the vibrant community that flourishes through a shared love of art.
