International student policies

Australian education providers are bound by a set of laws that enable overseas students to have a safe, enjoyable and rewarding experience while in Australia. These laws are known as the ESOS framework and they include the Education Services for Overseas (ESOS) Act 2000 and the National Code. The laws promote quality education and provide consumer protection for overseas students.

The Act requires that overseas students on a student visa study with an education provider and in a course that can be found on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). CRICOS registration guarantees that the course and the education provider at which you study meet the high standards necessary for overseas students. TAFE South Australia courses are registered on CRICOS as TAFE South Australia CRICOS number 00092B.

Overseas students' rights and responsibilities and other important parts of the ESOS framework are available at the Australia Education International website.

TAFE South Australia is committed to establishing appropriate policies and procedures for the provision of services to overseas students that meet the legislative requirements under the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) framework. These are detailed in the International Students ESOS Compliance Procedure. See also ESOS Legislative Framework.

As an international student, you should be aware of the policies and guidelines in place concerning both your entry as a student into Australia, and your enrolment and study at TAFE South Australia.
