The Aboriginal Access Centre aims to lead prospective Aboriginal students from unemployment to vocational education and training to meaningful employment. This can improve the social, emotional, physical and economic wellbeing of all Aboriginal people.
The AAC provides students with services such as case management, tutorial assistance and e-learning resources from more than a dozen TAFE SA metro and regional campuses.
The AAC has Education Managers and programs within the major regional TAFE SA campuses throughout the state. These managers will be happy to discuss any training requirements you may have for your community.
Case management
The Aboriginal Access Centre (AAC), TAFE SA facilitates access to vocational education and training for Aboriginal people through case management. Each student works with a case manager to develop an individual learning plan that maps their pathway through TAFE, to higher education or employment.
The case manager provides a link between lecturers, other support providers and the student, providing support to the student for the duration of their study and for six to 12 months upon gaining employment to ensure job sustainability.
Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS)
ITAS provides Indigenous students enrolled in an accredited TAFE SA course or structure training programme with tutorial assistance.
Students may be eligible for tutorial assistance while studying units:
- for a Certificate III or above qualification
- for a Certificate I or II qualification, but only if those units are a pathway to further study in a course leading to a Certificate III or above qualification.
Full Time Equivalent (FTE) students are allocated 2 hours per week x 34 weeks

Interactive Ochre
Interactive Ochre is an engaging and contemporary e-learning resource bringing an Indigenous perspective to cultural awareness training. It aims to foster and develop inclusive work and learning environments and can be used with both Indigenous and non-Indigenous learners in urban, rural and remote contexts.
