Our policing courses provide skills training to enhance recruitment prospects with the South Australia Police, as well as provide career advancement pathways for existing police officers. The courses have been designed to meet the needs of South Australia Police and provide students with the skills and knowledge required for success as a police officer in South Australia. The police studies program is designed and delivered in collaboration with South Australia Police (SAPOL).
All courses provide study pathways and credits for degree qualifications at university.
Certificate III in Police Studies
This course aims to develop the skills, knowledge and attributes required for students to improve their prospects of recruitment by SAPOL and other law enforcement and compliance agencies. This course is delivered online, by attendance, or by a combination of both. If undertaken full-time the course is delivered over one semester.
The following courses form part of SAPOL’s promotions qualification and are only available to eligible serving police officers:
- Certificate IV in Policing. This is part of the Police Cadet training program
- Diploma of Public Safety. This is part of the Probationary Constable training program
- Advanced Diploma of Policing. This is part of the Sergeant/Senior Sergeant qualification program.
Graduates of the Certificate III in Police Studies are well prepared to apply for recruitment into SAPOL or other law enforcement and compliance agencies such as interstate police organisations, Department of Immigration, and Department of Customs.
