Course Admission Requirements
(for International Applications)
of 5.5 Overall with minimum of 5.0 in all bands or equivalent.
- Satisfactory completion of Year 11 or equivalent.
- Students may be required to purchase additional items at the approx cost of A$700.
- Students will choose one of three specialist areas to complete the Certificate IV in Visual Arts. These are: Photomedia; 3D Ceramics and Sculpture; and Jewellery. Students will make this choice during counselling and registration in classes when they are on campus.

If you are applying from onshore, generally, you will need to apply for an international course to TAFE South Australia at least two months before you want to start your studies in Australia. If you are applying from offshore it is highly recommended that you apply at least four months in advance.

All aspects of our lives are enriched by visual culture, craft and design. Graduates of these courses are equipped to excel in activities that embrace an artist’s and designer’s practice. Artists and designers may choose to practise independently, join industry enterprises or participate in public art commissions and community art activities. Opportunities include working in jewellery, sculpture, painting, ceramics, art photography, printmaking, galleries and in education.

Qualifications & Skills Covered
Certificate IV in Visual Arts
6 core units: Participate in OHS processes; Produce drawings to communicate ideas; Realise a creative project; Develop self as artist; Develop and discuss ideas for own creative work; Research history and theory to inform own arts practice; plus 9 elective units
Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full Qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
