Course Admission Requirements

  • You must be working in a related industry and have a Certificate III in Dental Assisting. You must provide evidence of this when you enrol.

    Course Notes & Special Requirements

    • TAFE SA can recognise the skills (RPL) you already have. If you are working in the industry and have skills that can be recognised, TAFE SA will provide any additional training needed to gain a qualification.
    • Students wishing to access WorkReady funding will be required to demonstrate satisfactory reading, writing and numeracy skills as part of course counselling before enrolling.

    This qualification provides the knowledge and skills necessary to provide an advanced level of chairside assistance to the operator, including contributing to the quality of dental care provided through well developed communication skills; providing an oral health education program that promotes good oral health as part of general good health; as well as implementing and monitoring infection control policy and procedures. 3 core units plus 4 electives.

    Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full Qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
