Qualifications & Skills Covered

Diploma of Animal Technology
15 core units: Working within an animal technology facility; Carry out institution containment and exclusion procedures; Prepare for and monitor anaesthesia in animals; Conduct non-surgical procedures on animals; Conduct euthanasia of research animals; Manage compliance in animal technology; Manage and maintain the health of research animals; Maintain and monitor animal health and wellbeing; Provide enrichment for animals; Plan for and provide nutritional requirements for animals; Carry out simple breeding procedures; Manage OHS procedures; Provide basic care of rodents and rabbits; Perform aseptic techniques; Process and interpret data; plus 8 elective units.

Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency within this Qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment.
