Changes from 5 July 2013

TAFE SA’s Email service will be migrated to a new and improved service on Friday, 5 July 2013. As a part of this migration, we will be able to offer a greater range of services to TAFE SA students and staff, while still retaining the same experience for existing students.

For existing TAFE SA Students

What will not change?
    • You will keep your existing @tafesa.edu.au email address.
    • Your password will not change.
    • You will still use the same website to log in (outlook.com/tafesa.edu.au, or via the tafesa.edu.au top website menu).
    • You will still be able to access your TAFE SA email from your home computer or mobile device.
    • Your previous emails will be accessible from the new service.

What will change?
    • You will no longer see the TAFE SA logo once logged in (it will be the Office 365 logo).
    • Files kept on SkyDrive will need to be accessed separately (see last page for access instructions).

Office 365 / Outlook screenFor New TAFE SA students

Welcome to TAFE SA!

This Fact Sheet will provide you with the information you need to access your TAFE SA email account. If you are familiar with Microsoft Outlook Live (previously Windows Live or Hotmail) you’ll already be familiar with many of the functions available in the Office 365 service.

Important Information

Changing Passwords (New Email Service)
Your Email and Campus Computer log in are linked. You can change your computer password by selecting ‘Change Password’ once logged in (press Ctrl+Alt+Del to see this option). This will synchronise your campus computer password and your Email Password, however, the reverse is not true and changing your Email Password in a Web Browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) will not change your Campus Computer password.

Password Security Requirements

By default, TAFE SA Email (Office 365) user passwords are set to expire every 90 days. When your password expires, you are notified upon signing in.

When you create a new password, you must meet the following requirements:
  • Use 8 to 16 characters
  • Must contain characters from at least three of the following four categories:
    • Lowercase characters (a – z)
    • Uppercase characters (A – Z)
    • Numbers (0-9), or
    • Symbol, including: ! @ # $ % ^ & * - _ + = [ ] { } | \ : ‘ , . ? / ` ~ “ < > ( ) ;

You cannot use your user name (the part of your user ID to the left of the @ symbol), or your first or last name as part of your password.

Note: Your password for My TAFE SA is not linked to your PC or Office 365 account.

What to do if you forget your password

If you forget your password, you can request a password reset from your Lecturer or Student Support Officer on campus. You will be provided with a new temporary password to use the next time you sign in.
  • Warning, do not use the Microsoft link  : "Can't access your account?".

Please NoteIf you change the password for your email account, make sure you also update the password in any mobile devices or other email programs that you have configured.

SkyDrive (Old Service, Existing Students)

Files on SkyDrive

Existing students (studying pre 5th July, 2013) will now have to log into SkyDrive separately. Your files will remain on SkyDrive, however this service will no longer be linked to your student email account.

TAFE SA staff cannot assist with resetting your SkyDrive password.

You can access your SkyDrive files by going to skydrive.com and logging in with your existing username and password.

New students can sign up for a personal SkyDrive account at skydrive.com, but this too will not be linked to your student email account, and must be managed separately.

Changing SkyDrive Passwords

For existing students, you can reset your old SkyDrive account password using the online Password Reset Tool.

Password Reset Tool: https://account.live.com/ResetPassword.aspx

Please NoteYour SkyDrive account will be considered a separate account, and not administrated by TAFE SA. If you change the password for SkyDrive it will not change your Email or PC login password (and vice-versa). TAFE SA cannot assist in recovering your SkyDrive password.
