Game Art Studies
Game Art Studies is a composite course. This means you need to take three qualifications to build the right skill set. These are:
- ICA50211 Diploma in Digital and Interactive Games
- CUF60107 Advanced Diploma in Screen (specialising in Game Art)
As a game art student you will learn the skills required of artists in game development.
Game artists are chiefly modellers and texturers but also have a broad knowledge of the game development process.
This course puts particular emphasis on modelling, texturing, concept development and drawing.
Students develop skills and knowledge in these key areas as well as project management, team work, simulations industry and a variety of delivery platforms.
The following facilities are provided to assist students with their studies:
- Classroom instruction from industry skilled teachers
- 3 studios containing enough computers for each student
- Autodesk MAYA
- Adobe Photoshop
- WACOM tablets
- All other required software.
Graduates holding the qualifications from this program have found employment in the game industry, simulations industry, film and advertising as 3D modellers and texture artists.
Some graduates have also started their own companies in game development where working in mobile; iOS and Android is becoming increasingly popular. For best results take advantage of our articulation arrangements with Flinders University below.
Applicants to this course should be mindful that employment should be sought nationally and that employers are interested in graduates with excellent portfolios and employability skills.
Completion of the Advanced Diploma provides you with 18 months credit towards the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Digital Media) at Flinders University and the Bachelor of Media at Adelaide University.
