The Creative Industries Centre is a $3M, purpose-built facility located next to Tea Tree Plaza and the O’ Bahn terminal.
The Centre houses the following programs: Printmedia, Photoimaging, Advertising and Graphic Design, CGI and Visual Effects, Game Art, Digital Arts, Music and Media. Facilities and training are leading edge reflecting industry demand and environment.
The facility provides a unique training environment for apprentices, trainees, full-time and part-time students undertaking award courses and members of the community enrolled in short courses. The campus Resource Centre is well stocked with resources supporting the Printmedia, Photoimaging, Advertising and Graphic Design, Digital Arts and Media programs and also Entertainment Industries. It contains the second largest collection of Graphic Art texts in the state.
Many of our Advanced Diploma courses now have recognised pathways to Flinders University, Adelaide University and University of South Australia. There is a world-class photographic studio including a full cyclorama. This studio is complemented by two smaller studios, green room, dark room and industry standard photographic equipment and resources.
There is a large number of suites containing Apple Mac computers loaded with the latest Adobe design software. All computer suites have access to state-of-the-art digital output devices and there is also a 12-colour large format printer.
The complex provides students from all Creative Industries programs with a Mac equipped ‘drop in centre’, called the Tech Common. This facility is open from 8 am until 10 pm, so provides students with a quiet, modern area to undertake unsupervised study. Also for student use, a life drawing room and drawing studios are provided which are fitted out with appropriate equipment for the teaching of illustration. Students have access to Wacom tablets for digital illustration and related skills.
There is a Printing facility for the teaching of lithographic and digital printing; this is connected to a comprehensive binding and finishing area containing guillotining, folding, and adhesive binding equipment. All aspects of hand binding and finishing are also catered for.
The Digital Production area simulates a complete digital workflow on leading-edge equipment that facilitates concept design to a range of finished products.
